Fix 8: Replace your Baldur’s Gate 3 folderīefore you try any of these fixes below, please make sure your PC is capable to run Baldur’s Gate 3.Fix 5: Lower down your screen resolution. Which may be happening, because going off of the Bard mod, they appear to get significantly more unique dialogue options compared to the other classes thus far. I don't imagine Larian will implement Destructive Wave in particular for BG3 though, unless they intend to show some pretty heavy favoritism for the class. There's a much stronger focus on crowd control/utility spells like Charm Person and Speak with Dead/Animals/Plants. The actual Bard spell list is generally lacking in direct offensive spells, usually limited to things that inflict Psychic damage, though there are a few exceptions like Thunderwave and Shatter. Though this is a niche application for it, most Bards in tabletop tend to pick up something like Fireball or Revivify instead. Bards can technically use Magical Secrets to pick up otherwise Paladin exclusive spells like Destructive Wave (a 5th level Paladin spell) and use them far earlier than the Paladins can (who normally have to wait until level 17 to get access to 5th level spells, while Bards can pick up and use those spells via Magical Secrets starting from level 10). When I say Magical Secrets lets them learn spells from any other class, this even includes Paladin. Additionally, they gain Extra Attack at level 6, which lets them attack twice in one turn. Their Bardic Inspiration is upgraded to Combat Inspiration, which lets the party member use it to increase their damage rolls or increase their AC against an incoming attack. This lets them act as support tanks or rather capable archers. They gain proficiency in martial weapons, shields, and medium armor. All Bards get Magical Secrets at level 10, but Lore Bards get additional spells much earlier.Ĭollege of Valor has a martial focus instead. At level 6, they get Magical Secrets, which lets them learn any 2 spells from any other caster, as long as they have the spell slots to cast them to begin with. They get the ability to use their Bardic Inspiration to use something called Cutting Words instead, which can lower the result of an incoming enemy attack or damage roll, or lower their ability check roll. But their modifiers are pretty high as is, especially when it comes to things like persuasion.Ĭollege of Lore is mostly for Bards that are more caster-focused. It's worth noting that Bards cannot normally use Bardic Inspiration on themselves. Because Bardic Inspiration has more combat applications compared to Guidance, it's one of the main reasons why BG3 needs a working reaction system to effectively utilize it there. All Bards can use Bardic Inspiration (which adds anywhere from 1d6-1d12 to an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check depending on level), but the major difference between the subclasses are the additional uses for it.ĭue to Bardic Inspiration, having a Bard around is basically a great way to pass that difficult ability check as it stacks with Guidance. A bit late on this, but two of the most likely subclasses to be added to BG3 are College of Lore and College of Valor.
